FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team is back on the road for a midweek game against William & Mary on Wednesday, March 4 at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va.
Last time out, Mason (0-9) fell to Iona College, 6-0, on Sunday at Spuhler Field.

Last season, a trio of William & Mary pitchers, starter Nick Butts and relievers Justin Pearson and Randy Prosperi, combined on a two-hitter as the Tribe posted a 5-1 win over the Patriots on April 23, 2019 at Spuhler Field.
Butts threw 3.1 innings of no-hit baseball, Pearson tossed a career-high 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and Prosperi retired all four batters he faced to end the game.
The Patriots are 63-36 all-time against the Tribe. The 63 victories over the former Colonial Athletic Conference rival are the most against any opponent in program history.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
William & Mary finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 33-22, including a mark of 12-11 against CAA opponents. The Tribe went 16-11 at home and 16-9 on the road last season.
The Tribe won their first two games in the CAA Tournament last season with victories over James Madison, 2-1, and Charleston, 1-0, to advance to the winner's bracket final.
William & Mary enters the week with a 4-7 record, with all four wins at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va.
The Tribe dropped three games at East Carolina Feb. 14-16 to start the 2020 campaign, then swept three games from Fairleigh Dickinson at home Feb. 22-23.
William & Mary fell to Virginia, 8-5, in Charlottesville (Feb. 25), and then dropped a pair of home games, to Wagner College, 5-4 (Feb. 28) and West Virginia, 13-4 (Feb. 29) before defeating Georgetown, 13-2 (March 1) at Plumeri Park.
The Tribe will host George Washington on Tuesday, March 3 before facing the Patriots on Wednesday.
Senior catcher/infielder Matthew Trehub leads the team with a .385 average and is third on the club in hits (10) and RBI (7) in eight games played.
Senior outfielder Brandon Raquet is batting .350 and leads the team in hits (14), home runs (4), triples (3), RBI (11) and runs scored (15) in 11 games played.
As a team, the Tribe leads the NCAA in triples (9), with eight coming in the three-game sweep over Fairleigh Dickinson. William & Mary also ranks seventh nationally in double plays turned (13) and when at the plate, the Tribe are eighth in the NCAA in walks (74).
Junior infielder Matt McDermott is hitting .295 and is second on the team in hits (13) and home runs (2) in 11 games played.
The Tribe have a team batting average of .260 and a team ERA of 5.91.
