HARRISONBURG, Va.– George Mason women's tennis fell, 4-0, to in-state rival James Madison Sunday afternoon at the East Campus Tennis Courts.
 
The Patriots drop to 3-4, the Dukes improve to 9-3 on the season.

JMU notched three doubles wins to earn the first point of the match.

"The Dukes are probably the best team we have played this year," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "They are solid, but we are not that far away. We need to cut down on our unforced errors."

The Duke's No.2 doubles team, Jona Roka and Michelle Los Arcos, earned a 6-2 win against Mason's Jackie Nannery and Isabella Daverio to begin the match. Madison won the doubles point when its top team of Daniela Voloh and Natalia Nikolopoulou dropped Mason's Paige La and Hannah Yang, 6-2. The Patriots' top team fell to 11-7 on the season.
  
The Dukes clinched the match in three straight singles matches, each in straight sets. Daria Afanasyeva defeated Hannah Yang, 6-1, 6-1, to earn the first singles point for JMU. Playing at No. 1 singles, freshman Paige La fell to Roka in a 6-2, 6-1 decision. JMU secured the win when Voloh defeated Nannery, 6-1, 6-1.

Mason will travel to Hilton Head to play in four matches during spring break, beginning March 9 against Slippery Rock University.
