FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams have announced a change to its 2020 schedule.
 
The Patriots will no longer compete at the UAlbany Winter Classic this weekend. Instead, Mason will use the weekend off to train and reset before the final stretch of the indoor season.
 
"With the lineup of quality meets we've had so far and the excellent job our athletes have done this season, in sitting down to hash out our needs for this weekend, the coaching staff felt that we'd benefit more from some quality time in training and a weekend away from competition to reset a bit before making our last push into the VMI meet on Feb. 14-15 and then the A-10 Championships beyond that," said head coach Andrew Gerard. 
 
"With five weekends in February this year anyway, the meet schedule was already stretched for 2020 and we're on point competitively, so we've elected to not compete this weekend."
 
The Patriots resume competition Feb. 14-15 at the VMI Winter Relays in Lexington, Va.
