Mason Hosts Patriot Classic Over the Weekend

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team (1-9) will host the Patriot Classic at the Mason Softball Complex from Feb. 28-March 1. Lafayette, Delaware and Radford for the three day softball classic hosted annually by Mason Athletics. 
 
The Patriots are coming off of a week break from game action, getting back home from two separate road trips. 
 
Mason started the season in DeLand, Fla. and continued to Texas to compete in the Bearkat Classic at Sam Houston State University.
 
The Patriots won only one contest in that stretch but look to turn it around come Friday.
 
Sophomore Taylor Dadig leads the Patriots in batting average (.391) while the trio of redshirt junior Adriana Erickson, junior Meghan Graham and freshman Annie Villalobos lead the Green & Gold in runs batted in (4).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
LAFAYETTE; 8-40-1, 1-17 Patriot League (2019 Record)
The Leopards have yet to play a game this season, opening their 2020 campaign in Fairfax. Lafayette was picked to finish seventh in the Preseason Patriot League Coaches' Poll this winter.
 
Last season, the Leopards finished last in the Patriot League with a 1-17 record in conference play. 
 
DELAWARE; 12-2, 0–0 CAA
The Blue Hens have started hot in their first 14-game stretch of 2020, winning 11 of their last 12 contest. Delaware has outscored their opponents 87-42 and currently have a team earned run average of 2.53. The Blue Hen's team OBP also stands at a high .401 mark.
 
Delaware was picked to finish last (eighth) in the CAA earlier this month, but currently lead the conference in overall record (12-2). James Madison is second in the CAA with a 6-3 overall record.
 
RADFORD; 6-3, 0-0 Big South
The Highlanders are beginning a long road trip. Radford has yet to play a home game the season and will not be back in Radford, Va. until March 27. Despite the travel, the Highlanders have been able to string six wins together to start the 2020 season. Radford has outscored their opponents by 19 runs (44-25) and a team slugging percentage of .481.
 
In the circle, the Highlanders have held their opponents to an average of 2.7 earned runs on the season.
