FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team plays its first home series of the season, hosting Iona College for three games beginning Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Spuhler Field.
 
Mason (0-6) fell to Maryland, 13-3, on Tuesday at Bob Smith Stadium in College Park, Md.
 
Junior first baseman Scott Morgan hit his team-leading third home run of the season against the Terrapins, a two-run blast in the sixth inning.  Senior right fielder Bailey Klein drove in a run and freshman Lyle Miller-Green scored twice in the game.
 
Morgan is batting .313 and leads the team in RBI (5) and runs scored (5) in five games played.  Freshman Peter Nielsen is hitting .273 in six games played
 
The Patriots are 5-0 all-time against Iona College.
 
Mason has a team batting average of .213 and a team ERA of 11.02 through six games.
 
SCOUTING IONA COLLEGE
 
Iona College finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 14-38, including a mark of 8-16 against MAAC opponents.  The Gaels went 5-13 at home and 8-22 on the road last season.
 
The Gaels enter the weekend with an 0-7 record, with six of the games played on the road and one at a neutral site.
