MIAMI, Fla. – The George Mason Patriots baseball team was swept at Florida International, falling 7-5 in the final game of the series, on Sunday afternoon at FIU Baseball Stadium in Miami, Fla.

Mason (0-5) took advantage of two walks and a Golden Panther error in the first to score three runs against FIU junior starter Will Saxton.

With one out, graduate student outfielder Jack DeLongchamps legged out and infield single and freshman designated hitter Lyle Miller-Green followed with a walk.  Graduate student Cooper Mrowka singled up the middle, with both DeLongchamps and Miller-Green scoring on a throwing error.

Mrowka then scrambled home on a wild pitch to put the Patriots up 3-0.

FIU (7-0) got a run back in the home half of the first against Mason sophomore starter Jared Lyons.

FIU sophomore Jarrett Ford led off with a walk and after a double put runners on second and third, Golden Panthers sophomore infielder Alec Sanchez drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.

FIU took the lead in the bottom of the third, scoring three unearned runs on two walks, a Mason error and a wild pitch to take a 4-3 advantage.

Mason sent eight batters to the plate in the fourth, scoring two unearned runs to go back in front, 5-4.  Junior first baseman Scott Morgan led off the inning with a single and scored on an error, while Miller-Green was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run.

All five Mason runs scored in the game were unearned.

The Panthers evened the score in the bottom of the fifth.  Junior designated hitter Jose Garcia led off with a walk and after FIU loaded the bases with two outs, Garcia raced home on a wild pitch to make it a 5-5 game.

FIU got a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh against Miller-Green.  Panthers sophomore infielder Kaeber Rog plated a run with a RBI single and Ford knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 7-5.

The Panthers remained unbeaten with a record of 7-0 on the year.

Lyons allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits with seven walks and three strikeouts in 4.2 innings.  Sophomore Nick Zegna tossed 1.1 innings with two walks and a strikeout.  Miller-Green (0-1) surrendered two runs on three hits with a strikeout in 2.0 innings and suffered the loss.

Mason pitchers combined to walk 10 FIU batters, with five coming around to score.

For the Panthers, Saxton allowed five unearned runs with four walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings.  The FIU bullpen combined to pitch 5.1 scoreless innings and gave up just four hits.  Senior Jose Machado retired the lone batter he faced in the seventh and earned the win (1-0), while freshman Alejandro Torres allowed just one hit in 2.0 innings to pick up his first collegiate save.

DeLongchamps, Morgan, Miller-Green, Mrowka and freshman Jackson Barrett each scored a run for the Patriots.

Freshman catcher Jake Manderson made his first collegiate start and recorded the first hit of his career with a single in the fifth.

The Patriots are back on the road for their first midweek game of the season when they face Maryland at Bon "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Tuesday in College Park, Md.
