The George Mason University men's tennis team wrapped up its two match weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Howard Saturday night at the Burke Racquet Club.
"The guys battled hard today and came out with a great team win," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "We've been working hard on our energy and momentum swings and I thought we did a great job
Rithik Sardana making the adjustments from the last match. We're looking forward to starting the outdoor season and we have lots of areas we can continue improving on in practice."
Mason won all three doubles matches, starting with
Ryan Charles and
Rithik Sardana winning a 6-3 match at No. 1. No. 2 featured
Jakob Nielsen and
Faisal Alrebdi taking a 6-3 triumph over Howard's Raju/Blackburn team. And at No. 3,
Luke Maxwell and
Chanasorn Nakaurai won 6-1 over Kyle Martin and Lorenz Lowe.
In singles,
Rithik Sardana began the match with a straight sets win over Sagar Raju (6-1, 6-4). Then, his brother
Rishab Sardana won 6-4, 6-0 over Cole Gittens.
At No. 2, senior
Jakob Nielsen took a two-set triumph over Romani Mayers (6-2, 7-5), while sophomore
Chanasorn Nakaurai also was a winner at No. 5 (6-0, 6-1).
Sophomore
Erick Rivas returned to the lineup and easily won at No. 6 over Phoenix Williams (6-1, 6-1). Wrapping up the night, senior
Edward Ayers won a three set triumph over Roger Lyn (6-2, 3-6, 6-2).
