FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball seniors AJ Wilson and Javon Greene have been named to the Preseason All-A-10 Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
Wilson and Greene each earned a spot on the All-A-10 Third Team, while Wilson also was named to the Preseason All-A-10 Defensive Team. It marks the first time in their careers Wilson and Greene have garnered Preseason All-A-10 recognition.
 
For Mason, it's the first time in the program's A-10 history that two Patriots have been named to the preseason all-conference team in the same season.
 
Wilson compiled a breakout junior campaign last season while being selected as the Chris Daniels A-10 Most Improved Player. He put together tremendous gains from year-to-year in nearly every statistical category, including scoring (12.2 ppg vs. 3.7 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg vs. 2.6 rpg), blocks (2.9 bpg vs. 1.3), assists (1.0 apg vs. 0.1 apg) and minutes (27.7 mpg vs. 10.8 mpg). Wilson led the A-10 and ranked seventh nationally with 2.9 blocks per game while setting the Mason school record for blocks in a season (92). 
 
"For AJ, this is fitting recognition for his continued maturation into a complete player," head coach Dave Paulsen said. "Last season he became increasingly comfortable scoring in a variety of ways for us and also was able to make a tremendous impact on the defensive end of the floor. I'm looking forward to watching him take that development to another level during his senior season."
 
Wilson also ranked in the top-60 nationally in offensive rebounds/game (2.9) and was ninth in the A-10 in overall rebounding (7.4 rpg). He was one of just two players nationally to tally at least 90 offensive rebounds and 90 blocks. Entering 2020-21, the Laurel, Md., product is fifth nationally in career blocks (164).
 
Greene put together an outstanding all-around junior season in 2019-20 while leading the Patriots in scoring (13.8 ppg), assists (2.6 apg) and steals (1.8 spg). The McDonough, Ga., product ranked sixth in the A-10 in steals per game (fourth in league games) and was 10^th in scoring in A-10 play (14.9 ppg). The natural scorer also registered two 30+ point contests, including an EagleBank Arena Mason record performance (39 pts) vs. Richmond.
 
Greene's 55 steals in 2019-20 ranked t-8^th most in Mason single season history. He enters his senior campaign 16^th on the all-time Mason steals list and 46th nationally in career steals.
 
"Javon is similar to AJ in that he impacts the game in a ton of ways," Paulsen said. "He'll always guard the other team's best perimeter player and he led our team in steals last season. On the other end of the floor, he was our leading scorer and leading assist man in A-10 play. You could make the argument he could be on the all-defensive team as well. I think he has the ability to put together a really high level senior year for us."
 
Mason was picked 10^th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the league's head coaches and media representatives. The Patriots return all five starters and 12 letter winners overall from last season's squad. Mason also welcomes freshmen Otis Frazier III (Buckeye, Ariz.), Malik Henry (Longview, Texas), Tyler Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) and Ronald Polite (Temple Hills, Md.).
