Fairfax, Va.— George Mason Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics
Brad Edwards announced today that Greg Pieczynski has been named the fourth golf coach in program history.
Pieczynski comes to Mason from Atlantic 10 rival George Washington where he was in his first season as an assistant coach for the Colonials golf program.
"Coach Pieczynski brings a wealth of experience both as a player and professional instructor, having played at collegiate golf's highest level in the Big 10 and as a professional golfer for nine years. His expertise as a PGA instructor will provide the tools needed to help our student-athletes reach their potential both academically and athletically," said Edwards.
The Kingston, Pa. native served as the director of instruction at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Md. for the past three years. A member of the PGA of America and US Kids Golf Certified Instructor, Pieczynski had a stint as an Assistant PGA Professional at the Weston Golf Club in Weston, Mass. Throughout his career as an instructor, he's run a variety of clinics, tournaments, and camps.
"I'm really excited to be joining the George Mason family," said Pieczynski. "I'd like to thank
Brad Edwards for providing me the opportunity to take this program to the next level."
Pieczynski began his collegiate coaching career at Assumption College. In his two seasons as an assistant (2015-2017), the Greyhounds qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division II Regional Championship for the first time in five years.
He has an extensive playing history, having won 25 tournaments during a nine-year professional career.
A 2006 graduate of Penn State University, Pieczynski played golf collegiately for the Nittany Lions, where he was a captain, two-time Academic All-American and two-time NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.
