FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams return to action this weekend with the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI on Friday and Saturday in Lexington, Va.
Friday's events begin at 9:00 a.m. with the heptathlon. The track events start at 1:55 p.m. with the women's 60-meter hurdles while the field events begin at 2 p.m. with the men's weight throw.

The field will feature 32 schools, including American, James Madison, Virginia, High Point and UNC-Ashville.
The Patriots are coming off a strong showing in a field of more than 20 schools at the Great Dane Classic in Staten Island, N.Y. The Mason men swept the top spots in the weight throw with junior
Benjamin Viau placing first in the event for the second straight meet with a mark of 17.81m. Junior
Jaylen Simmons added a second-place finish with a personal-best mark of 17.45m.
In her first meet for the Green & Gold, sophomore transfer
Grace Gaudin earned first place in the weight throw with a mark of 18.29m.
On Tuesday, a quartet of Mason student-athletes were recognized by the Atlantic 10 for their performances from Jan. 1-12. Simmons earned Men's Field Performer of the Week while redshirt junior
Thomas Amabile tabbed Men's Track Performer of the Week and freshman
Xavier Shirley notched Men's Rookie of the Week.
Senior
Ashley Lewis was named A-10 Women's Track Performer of the Week after a first-place finish in the 800-meter run at the Great Dane Classic. Her time of 2:11.85 ranks first in the Atlantic 10. She also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay for a second-place finish with a time of 3:48.04, which ranks second in the conference.
Up next, Mason returns home for the Patriot Games on Jan. 24-25 at the Field House.
