Haellie Gordon Earns Emerging Business Leader Award

FAIRFAX, Va. –
George Mason softball student-athlete Haellie Gordon received the 2019 Emerging Business Leader Award from the George Mason University's School of Business, as the only undergraduate student to win the award in the academic year.
 
The annual award is given to both an undergraduate and graduate student who uphold excellence and leadership both in the classroom and in the world of business. 
 
"I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to represent George Mason University's School of Business and Softball program in this capacity," Gordon said. "My family, friends, professors, coaches and teammates have played impactful roles in my ability to excel in the classroom as well as on the softball field." 
 
From the story on gmu.eduthe junior studies marketing within the School of Business and is currently a sales associate at Orange Theory Fitness, where she encourages and celebrates members in their fitness goals and achievements. Prior to this position, she spent time as a competitive intelligence research assistant for Ropes & Gray LLP, a law firm in Washington, D.C.

In this position, she conducted research on various individuals, companies, and industries in order to aid in the advancement of the firm, both in business and in court. Along with these responsibilities, she participated in the development of two databases using Microsoft SharePoint. Gordon also worked as a summer student at Gentry Locke, a law firm in Roanoke, Va., for two summers. There, she participated in the preparation of court and mediation presentations, developed chronologies and medical record compilations for various cases, and gained first-hand experience with clients and judges. 

 
Not only has Gordon been a difference maker in the classroom and in the workforce, but she has also been a force on the diamond. During the pitcher's freshman campaign in 2018, Gordon led the Patriots in wins (11) and appearances (33). 

For her future plans, Gordon plans on working abroad and attending law school, as she pursues a career in the field of law.

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude," Gordon stated. "I hope to continue to lead by example by pushing myself and working hard to achieve my goals."
