Logan Driscoll Selected 2019 VaSID Co-Player of the Year

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior catcher Logan Driscoll has been selected Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Co-Player of the Year and All-State First Team Catcher, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
Three players were voted the state's Player of the Year by VaSID, with Virginia sophomore infielder Tanner Morris and Old Dominion junior first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino earning the honor along with Driscoll.
 
Driscoll, a native of Burke, Va., was selected VaSID All-State First Team Catcher for the second straight year.
 
A native of Burke, Va., Driscoll became the highest draft pick in Mason baseball history when he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the second round, 73rd overall, in the 2019 MLB Draft.  He was the first player from the Atlantic 10 Conference and the fourth catcher to be selected.
 
Driscoll was selected A-10 All-Conference First Team Catcher for the second straight year and was also named to the 2019 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division I East All-Region First Team.
 
One of 14 semifinalists for the 2019 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award for the second year in a row, Driscoll led Mason in average (.343), hits (58), triples (2), home runs (9), RBI (33), slugging percentage (.598) and on-base percentage (.462).  He tied for second on the club in doubles (12) and was third in walks (31).
 
Driscoll started 32 of 47 games played behind the plate for the Patriots during his junior season.  At the plate, he led the team in average (.343), hits (58), doubles (12), triples (2), home runs (9), RBI (33), slugging percentage (.598) and on-base percentage (.462).  He had at least one hit in 35 of 47 games played (58-for-169) during the 2019 campaign, including 13 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games. 
 
In Atlantic 10 Conference play, Driscoll batted .364 (24-for-66) with seven doubles and four home runs.  He posted a .662 slugging percentage and .488 on-base percentage against the league.
 
Among A-10 leaders, Driscoll finished the regular season fourth in slugging percentage (.598), fifth in on-base percentage (.462), tied for seventh in home runs (9), ninth in batting average (.343), tied for 16th in walks (31), tied for 21st in both runs scored (37) and doubles (12) and tied for 23rd in hits (58).
