FAIRFAX, Va. – Seven members of the George Mason University men's track & field team have been selected as members of the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team for the 2019 outdoor season.
The septet of Patriots proved crucial during victorious A-10 Championships for both programs. The All-Rookie teams are comprised of the top rookie performer in each event from meets conducted from the start of the regular season through the Atlantic 10 Championships. The teams were selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
On the women's side,
Annabelle Eastman was a two-time All-Rookie selection for performances in the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m run. In addition, Síobhra O'Flaherty (10000m run),
Hannah Robertson (pole vault) and
Jessica McRae (hammer throw) also garnered all-rookie honors.
For the men, 2019 A-10 Indoor Rookie of the Meet
Cason Gardner earned outdoor All-Rookie accolades in the high jump, while
Chase Osborne (800m run) and
Decker Barborek (pole vault) also were named All-Rookie.

Annabelle Eastman | 3000m Steeplechase/5000m
Seventh in 3000m steeplechase at A-10 Outdoor Championship (10:27.37)…Second in steeple at Duke Invite (10:27.20)…Set PR in 5000m run at 2019 Colonial Relays en route to fifth-place finish (16:57.55)…1500m champion at William & Mary Triangular…Set steeplechase PR at ECAC/IC4A Championship while placing fourth 10:24.43.
Síobhra O'Flaherty | 10000m
Bronze medalist in 10000m run at A-10 Outdoor Championship (35:19.83)…Won 10000m title at ECAC/IC4A Championship (35:37.19)…Set 10000m PR at 2019 Colonial Relays (35:13.33).
Hannah Robertson | Pole Vault
Pole vault silver medalist at A-10 Outdoor Championship (3.81m)…Set outdoor PR at George Mason Spring Invitational with a vault of 3.92m (12-10.25)…Second in pole vault at presitigious Raleigh Relays (3.85m)…Finished sixth at ECAC/IC4A Championship (3.81m).
Jessica McRae | Hammer
Set PRs in both the discus and hammer at A-10 Outdoor Championship…A-10 bronze medalist in hammer throw (51.59m)…Posted a mark of 37.07m in the discus at A-10s…Second in hammer at George Mason Spring Invitational (50.09m).
Cason Gardner | High Jump
Sixth in high jump at A-10 Championship (1.97m)…Set outdoor PR of 2.10m (6-10.75) at Duke Invitational, which is ranked 47th in the NCAA East Region…Also cleared two meters at the Raleigh Relays (2.00m, 6-6.75).
Decker Barborek | Pole Vault
Placed sixth in the A-10 pole vault (outdoor PR) with a height of 4.25m (13-11.25)…Part A-10 winning 4x400m relay team (3:12.35)…Set PR while finishing fourth in preliminary of 400m hurdles at A-10s (53.09)…Fifth in 400m hurdles A-10 final…Won 400m hurdles title at George Mason Spring Invitational…Part of Mason 4x400m relay time which ranks 38th in the NCAA East Region.
Chase Osborne | 800m
Set PR in 800m run during eighth-place showing at A-10 Championship (1:52.54)…Also part of Mason 4x800m team which scored at A-10s…Set 1500m outdoor PR at William & Mary Triangular.
