Deanna Balsama who earned A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades, the conference announced today. It was the sixth time that Balsama has garnered the honor.
The Patriots (9-5, 5-1 A-10) defeated Davidson 11-7 on Friday and then edged out Duquesne 14-13 on Sunday. Mason is tied for second in the conference with Saint Joseph's and Richmond with three games remaining.
The freshman from Sewell, N.J., scored nine goals, dished out an assist and won seven draw controls in the two matches. She was 14-of-14 in shots on goal with a shooting percentage of .643. On Sunday, she tied a season-high with five goals on just six shots, including the game-winning goal with 7:20 left to lift the Patriots past Duquesne.
She leads the team in goals (39) and points (52).
Mason welcomes Saint Joseph's (4/12) and George Washington (4/14) this weekend at George Mason Stadium.
