FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason redshirt senior Matthew Voss and redshirt junior Colston DiBlasi have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I Scholar All-American Award winners, the organization announced.

In total, 142 wrestlers received 2019 honors.  Voss and DiBlasi were two of only 12 wrestlers from the Eastern Wrestling League selected.

Voss, a native of Edgewood, Wash., was selected Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State First Team for the second straight year.  A two-time NCAA qualifier, Voss has competed in the Division I NCAA Wrestling Championships in each of the last two years.

Voss finished the season with a 32-8 record, leading the team and setting a career-high in wins during the 2018-19 season.  He placed second at 285 pounds at the 2019 Eastern Wrestling League Championships held at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax.

Voss was seeded #13 and advanced to day two of the 2019 NCAA Championships and won two matches, earning a 7-3 decision over Southern Illinois freshman Colton McKiernan in the Consolation Round of 16 #1 and an 11-4 decision over Wyoming sophomore Brian Andrews, who was seeded No. 19, in the Consolation Round of 16 #2.

The senior captain went undefeated in conference duals with a record of 6-0.  Voss recorded five falls, three technical falls and six major decisions during the 2018-19 season.

Voss won all four of his bouts to win the title at the Hokie Open on Nov. 1 in Roanoke, Va. and went 4-0 to win the championship at the Bearcat Open on Nov. 11 in Binghamton, N.Y.  He placed second at the Patriot Open on Dec. 9 and finished fourth at the Southern Scuffle Jan. 1-2 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Voss finished his career with 107 victories.  He ranked #16 in the nation by FloWrestling final rankings, the highest-ranked heavyweight in Virginia.

DiBlasi, a native of Kansas City, Mo., qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships as the #30 seed, receiving an at-large bid.

DiBlasi finished the season with a 29-14 record.  He recorded 17 pins during the 2018-19 season, second-most in the nation (only Central Michigan heavyweight Matt Stencel posted more pins than DiBlasi with 18).

At the 2019 EWL Championships, DiBlasi won by fall (0:54) in the quarterfinals and earned a 9-7 decision in the consolation semifinals to advance to the third-place match.

In his first season with the Patriots, DiBlasi placed second at the Bearcat Open (Nov. 11), the Navy Classic (Nov. 17) and the Patriot Open (Dec. 9).
