GREENSBORO, N.C. – The George Mason baseball team plays its final non-conference series of the season, facing UNC Greensboro for a three-game set beginning Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at UNCG Baseball Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.

Mason (13-19, 1-8 A-10) fell at Towson, 8-3, on Wednesday at Schuerholz Park in Towson, Md.  Junior catcher Bailey Klein hit his second home run of the season, while sophomore infielder Daniel Brooks went 3-for-4 in the game.

Mason junior catcher Logan Driscoll leads the team in average (.380), hits (40), home runs (8), RBI (26), walks (25) and runs scored (28) in 31 games played.  He is second in the Atlantic 10 in home runs and fourth in the league in batting average.  Driscoll has at least one hit in 10 of his last 12 games (16-for-41).

Senior outfielder Brady Acker is second on the club in average (.310) and is tied of second on the team in doubles (8) in 18 games played.  He has at least one hit in seven of his last nine games (12-for-35).

Sophomore outfielder Cam Reckling is third on the team with a .290 average and is second on the squad in hits (36) and runs scored (27) in 31 games played.  He is tied for second on the team in doubles (8) and is fifth in RBI (15).  Reckling a hit in 10 of his last 12 games (14-for-53).

Senior infielder/designated hitter Ryan Tassone is batting .286 and is seventh on the team in hits (20) in 18 games played.  He has a hit in nine of his last 10 games (17-for-42).

The Patriots have a team batting average of .255 and a team ERA of 7.14 through 31 games this season.

Mason and UNC Greensboro are meeting for the first time in 14 years.  The Patriots defeated the Spartans, 9-5, on Feb. 25, 2005 in the Hughes Brothers Challenge in Wilmington, N.C.

The Patriots are 1-13 on the road, while the Spartans have a record of 17-4 at home.

Sophomore first baseman Josh Madole is batting .325 and is tied for the team lead in hits (38) and is tied for third in RBI (16) in 31 games played.  He has at least one hit in his last 13 games.

Sophomore infielder Greg Hardison is batting .319 and is tied for fourth on the team in hits (29) and is second on the club in runs scored (19) in 23 games played.  He has an 11-game hitting streak.

Freshman infielder Zach Budzik was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for games played April 1-7.  He hit .500 (7-for-14) with a home run, four RBI and four doubles.

On the mound, sophomore Phillip Sanderson (3-2, 5.63) leads the team in innings pitched (38.1), is second in wins (3) and fourth in strikeouts (32).  Freshman Austin Koehn (1-1, 3.41) is second in the team in innings pitched (37.0) and fifth in strikeouts (29).

The Spartans have a team batting average of .281 and a team ERA of 4.85 through 31 games this season.

STRIKE ZONE

Mason and UNC Greensboro have met only once, with the Patriots defeating the Spartans, 9-5, on Feb. 25, 2005 at the Hughes Brothers Challenge in Wilmington, N.C.

Tyler Youngs and Robby Jacobsen each had three hits in the game, while starter Stacen Gant allowed just one earned run in five and two-thirds to earn the victory to become Mason's all-time leader in winning percentage, a spot he still holds today. 

Gant, who played for the Patriots from 2002-2005, finished his Mason career with a 25-7 record (.781) and still has the highest winning percentage in program history.  Gant is second in program history in strikeouts (246) and lowest opponent batting average (.239) and ranks third in lowest ERA (3.12).
