FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team led from start to finish in a complete 7-0 victory over Coppin State Saturday at the Mason Tennis Complex.
The Patriots swept the doubles point and complete all singles matches in two sets during the wire-to-wire victory.
"The guys played really well today," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "We came out with good energy and played some high quality tennis to get a decisive win. We have a lot to work on this week before our streak of conference matches coming up. We're excited to get to work."
Mason opened the doubles scoring with a 6-0 sweep at No. 1 courtesy of juniors
Edward Ayers and
Jakob Nielsen. Then at No. 2,
Luke Maxwell and Giuliani Buzoianu also swept their opponents (6-0) to claim victory. Senior

In singles, Ayers battled CSU's Rodriguez and took care of business in the first set (6-0). Then, in the second, he played in a more competitive affair, but still won 6-3 to set the tone for the Green & Gold.
Buzoianu also won in straight sets (6-3, 6-1), while freshman
Erick Rivas cruised in his match at No. 4 (6-1, 6-3).
Senior

Completing the Mason victory, Pollatos only gave up one game in a strong effort at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0) and fellow freshman
Chanasorn Nakaurai completed the same solid feat (6-1, 6-0).
