FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team defeated Towson, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, Va.
Mason (11-12, 0-3 A-10) fell behind Towson (3-19, 0-3 CAA) in the first inning when the Tigers plated a run against Patriots freshman starter
Patrick Halligan.
Towson freshman outfielder Javon Fields led off the game with a triple to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly to put Tigers in front 1-0.
The Patriots took the lead for good in the bottom of the second against Towson freshman starter Dallas Repine.

Bailey Klein led off the inning with a double and sophomore infielder
Daniel Brooks followed with an infield single, with Klein scoring from second base on a throwing error to tie the game 1-1.
Freshman
Jack Fitzgerald walked and senior infielder
Alejandro Aponte bunted his way aboard to load the bases with no outs. Sophomore outfielder
Cam Reckling and junior outfielder
Logan Driscoll each drove in a run with back-to-back sacrifice flies to make the score 3-1.
With two outs in the fifth, Mason senior infielder
Ryan Tassone doubled to right field and scored on Klein's RBI-single to increase the advantage to 4-1.
Towson plated a run in the top of the sixth on a RBI-double by freshman outfielder Nick Brown to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Patriots responded in the home half of the inning, loading the bases with no outs.
Brooks singled, Fitzgerald walked and Aponte reached on an error. With one out, Driscoll drove in a run with his second sacrifice fly of the game to make it 5-2. Mason senior first baseman
Tim Quinn led off the seventh inning with his third home run of the season, a solo homer to right for the 6-2 final.
The Patriots have hit at least one home run in five of their last six games.
Halligan (2-2) allowed two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 5.1 innings and earned the win.
Freshman
Mason Posey tossed 2.2 hitless innings, while sophomore
Michael Yuille pitched one scoreless frame for the Patriots.
Repine (0-4) surrendered three runs on five hits in 2.1 innings and took the loss. Five Towson relievers combined to pitch 5.2 innings in the game.
Klein went 3-for-4 with a RBI and run scored. He has at least one hit in four of his last five games. Quinn was 1-for-3 with his third home run of the season, while Brooks finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
The Patriots are back on the road for an Atlantic 10 weekend series against Richmond at Pitt Field in Richmond, Va. The first game of the series is Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
