FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team returns home to take on Towson in a midweek, non-conference game on Wednesday with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Spuhler Field.

Mason (10-12, 0-3 A-10) dropped its first three Atlantic 10 games of the season at Saint Joseph's last weekend.

Junior catcher Logan Driscoll leads the team in average (.341), hits (28), home runs (7), RBI (21) and is tied for first in runs scored (21).  He has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games and has homered in four of his last eight games.

Sophomore outfielder Cam Reckling is second on the club in average (.338) and hits (27).  He paces the Patriots in doubles (6) and is tied for first on the team in runs scored (21).  Reckling has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games.

Senior first baseman Tim Quinn is hitting .297 and is third on the team in hits (22) and fourth in RBI (11).  He leads the club in walks with 19 on the season.  Quinn has a six-game hitting streak.

The Patriots have a team batting average of .247 and a team ERA of 6.41.

Mason and Towson are scheduled to play a pair of games this season, with the Patriots making the trip to Baltimore on Apr. 10 for the second game of the year against the Tigers.

SCOUTING REPORT

Towson has an overall record of 3-18, including a mark of 0-3 against Colonial Athletic Association opponents.  The Tigers are 2-5 at home and 1-13 on the road this season.

Last time out, the Tigers were swept in their first CAA series of the season, dropping three games to UNC Wilmington March 22-24 at Schuerholz Park in Towson, Md.  The Seahawks won by final scores of 3-1, 8-4 and 11-6.

The Tigers recorded their lone road win this season with a 5-2 victory at Kennesaw State on Feb. 23 at Fred Stillwell Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.  Towson has dropped its last 10 road games.

Towson freshman outfielder Jason Fields leads the team in average (.315), hits (23), doubles (5), triples (2) and runs scored (11) in 20 games played. 

Junior infielder Colin Conroy is second of the club in average (.288) and is third in hits (15) in 16 games played.

Junior infielder Brad Powers is hitting .243 and leads the team in home runs (3) in 21 games played.  He is tied for second on the squad in hits (18) and RBI (11).
 
Senior infielder Zach Piazza is batting .231 and is tied for second on the team in hits (18) and RBI (11) in 21 games played.

Towson has a team batting average of .213 and a team ERA of 6.00.

STRIKE ZONE

Mason swept the home-and-home series from Towson last season.  In the first meeting, the Patriots defeated the Tigers, 14-7, on March 7, 2018 at Spuhler Field.  With the win, Mason head coach Bill Brown reached the milestone of 1,000 career victories.
