FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team returns home to host Monmouth for a three-game series beginning Friday, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Spuhler Field.

Last time out, Mason (8-6) fell to No. 20 N.C. State, 18-3, on Wednesday at Doak Field at Dail Park in Raleigh, N.C.

Mason senior first baseman Tim Quinn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored.  Senior third baseman Greg Popatak II also drove in a run for the Patriots.

Freshman Hugh O'Hara pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in his collegiate debut.  He struck out two and walked two in the outing.

Redshirt senior outfielder Brady Acker leads the team in average (.316) in seven games played.  He is fifth on the club in runs scored (7) and is tied for fourth in walks (9).

Freshman Cam Reckling is batting .255 in 13 games played.  He is tied for first on the team in runs scored (12) and is second in hits (12).

Senior catcher Bailey Klein has a .250 average and is tied for fourth on the club in hits (10).

Junior catcher Logan Driscoll is hitting .241 and leads the team with three home runs.  He is first on the team in hits (13) and doubles (3) and is second on the squad in RBI (9).

Mason is facing Monmouth for the first time in program history.

SCOUTING REPORT

Monmouth has a record of 3-10 through 13 games.  The Hawks are 3-6 on the road and 0-4 in games played at a neutral site.

Last time out, the Hawks fell to Rutgers, 2-1 in 10 innings, in Piscataway, N.J.  The Scarlet Knights scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Monmouth defeated East Carolina, 8-5, on Feb. 24 in Greenville, N.C.  The Hawks also swept a two-game series at Maryland Eastern Shore, with a 3-0 win on March 8 and an 11-3 victory on March 10.

Senior catcher J.D. Andreessen leads the team in average (.321) and hits (17).  He is second on the Hawks in RBI (6) and third in runs scored (5).  Andreessen has a 10-game hitting streak, including six multi-hit games.

Junior infielder Johnny Zega is second on the club in average (.268) and third in hits (11).

Junior catcher Zach Schild is hitting .240 and leads the team in RBI (8) and is second in hits (12).  He has at least one hit in nine of his 13 games played this season.

STRIKE ZONE

The Patriots have won each of their last eight three-game series played at Spuhler Field, including the first two home series this season.  Mason took two-of-three from Princeton March 2-3 and against Manhattan March 9-10.
