FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason redshirt senior
Tejon Anthony claimed the first Eastern Wrestling League title in program history, winning the championship at 149 pounds to help the Patriots to a third-place finish at the 2019 EWL Championships on Saturday at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va.

Matthew Voss placed second at 285 pounds, freshman
Kolby Ho placed second at 157 pounds and redshirt sophomore
Eli Spencer placed second at 197 pounds.
Anthony and Voss both qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships for the second straight year. This year's championships will be held Mar. 21-23 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The at-large field will be announced on Monday.
The George Mason wrestling team finished in third place out of seven teams at the 44th Annual EWL Championships. It marks the final EWL Championships, with the seven teams joining the Mid-American Conference beginning with the 2019-20 season.
Lock Haven won its second straight EWL title, finishing with 111.5 points. Rider was second with 93.5 points and George Mason was third with 56.5 points, followed by Edinboro (45.5), Bloomsburg (25.5), Clarion (20) and Cleveland State (8).

Frank Beasley, recorded their highest finish in the EWL Championships. Six Mason wrestlers reached the evening session, with four wrestling in the championship match and two in third-place matches.
Anthony, the top seed at 149 pounds, began the day with a 10-2 major decision over Edinboro junior Tyler Vath in the quarterfinals. Anthony recorded a pair of takedowns in the first period and led 4-1 going into the second. Leading 5-1 going into the third, Anthony scored with two more takedowns and added a riding time point.
In the semifinals, with the score tied 1-1 against Lock Haven freshman Brock Port, Anthony posted two takedowns in the third on the way to a 5-2 decision.
Anthony recorded two takedowns and four near-fall points in the first period to take control of the championship bout against Rider junior Evan Fidelibus. Anthony went on to win the EWL Championship with a 13-6 decision.
Voss, the top-seeded heavyweight, cruised to a 14-1 major decision over Rider senior Ryan Cloud. Voss posted four takedowns and four near-fall points in the match.
In the first-place bout, Voss built a 4-1 lead over Lock Haven senior Thomas Haines. With just 17 seconds remaining in the first, Haines scored with a reversal to get momentum. After a scoreless second period, Haines scored the only three points in third for the 7-4 decision.
Spencer won by fall (2:39) in the first period against Lock Haven freshman Luke McGonigal in the quarterfinals at 197 pounds.
In the semifinals, Spencer and Edinboro junior Dylan Reynolds were locked in a defensive battle, tied 1-1 going into overtime. Spencer would get an escape for the 2-1 decision in the tiebreaker to advance to the championship match.
At 157 pounds, Ho and Edinboro freshman Tim Suter were tied 3-3 going into the second period. Ho, the top seed, scored with a reversal and escape in the second and added a takedown in the third for an 8-5 decision.
After a hard-fought 3-2 decision over Cleveland State sophomore Nico O'Dor in the semifinals, Ho fell by fall in the championship bout against Lock Haven junior Alex Klucker.
Mason redshirt junior
Colston DiBlasi, the third seed at 165 pounds, won by fall (0:54) over Cleveland State sophomore Ryan Ford in the quarterfinals.
In the consolation semifinals, DiBlasi trailed 4-1 after the first period before storming back for a 9-7 decision in sudden victory over Edinboro junior Fritz Hoehn to advance to the third-place match.
At 125 pounds, Mason redshirt sophomore
Talha Farooq placed fourth. He defeated Edinboro freshman Lucas Rodriguez by 8-3 decision in the quarterfinals. After falling in the semifinals, Farooq advanced to the third-place match.
