ORLANDO, Fla. – The George Mason softball team dropped to 0-3 overall with losses against Ole Miss and UCF in the second day of the Friends of Jaclyn Tournament. The Patriots fell 8-0 (5) to Ole Miss and 7-0 to UCF.

Taylor Dadig made their Patriot debut, earning the start against Ole Miss. Against UCF, sophomore
Saige Cisler and freshman
Anna DiMari earned their first career start as Patriots.
It was a career day for several Patriots as
EJ Bankson,
Amber Verstynen and Cisler tabbed their first career hits for Mason.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Ole Miss
- The Rebels scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning off four hits including two home runs. Two Patriot errors allowed Ole Miss to knock in the first run of the game.
- In the bottom of the second, starting pitcher Marina Vitalich found her groove, collecting a strikeout and forcing two ground outs.
- In the bottom of the third, Ole Miss tacked on two more runs after a single to right field brought in two runners. Nonetheless, Vitalich bounced back in the inning to strike out the next two batters, ending the inning.
- Mason's offense ignited off senior Jess Curbeira's second double of the season. Unfortunately, Mason would strike out its next batter to end the inning.
- Sophomore Haellie Gordon replaced Vitalich for the final two innings of play. Ole Miss added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings. A double in the bottom of the fifth by the Rebels secured the victory, 8-0.
- Along with Curbeira, two other Patriots reached base in the game. Graham drew her second walk of the season while Dadig reached off an Ole Miss error.
HOW IT HAPPENED – UCF
- UCF scored its first run off a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second.
- In the bottom of the third inning, a double and sacrifice fly by the Knights extended their lead to three.
- The Knights scored another three runs in the bottom of the fourth, off a double (RBI) and home run (2 RBI).
- A double to left field brought in the final run for the Knights, winning the game 7-0.
- Pitcher Bekah Ansbro struck out a season-high five batters in the matchup.
- Mason's offense showed signs of promise with a season-high five hits, including three hits from rookies Cisler, Verstynen and Bankson.
- Senior Jess Curbeira tabbed her third straight game with a hit, this time with a single in the first inning.
