ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason University women's tennis team fell in a 6-1 match to Navy on Sunday afternoon.
In doubles action, Mason was competitive in each match, but Navy took the point with three victories. Freshmen
Hannah Harrod and
Jackie Nannery battled but fell at No. 2 doubles (6-3), while junior
Rachel Lee and sophomore
Hannah Yang also dropped a 6-3 match.
In singles,
Kayleigh Hahn performed admirably while grabbing a victory at No. 6 singles. The sophomore won her first set, 6-3, but then dropped the second, 6-2. In the shortened tiebreaker third, Hahn came out on top in a tight fight, 11-9.
Elsewhere, Harrod went three sets in her match at No. 4 singles. She won the first, 7-5, but fell by that same margin in the second. In the shortened third, Harrod lost in tiebreaker points, 10-4.
Mason now takes a two-week break before traveling to Hilton Head, S.C., for four matches in the PTR Springfest. The Patriots open the event March 11 with a contest vs. SIU Edwardsville.
