GENEVA, Ohio – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the third day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Mason men's team remained in second place with 444 points, while the women's team is currently in seventh place with 159 points after 27 events.
On the men's side, senior Nick Burton placed fifth in the 400-yard IM (3:56.72), while junior
Attila Kiss was fourth (4:01.09) and freshman
Timothy McKinley was seventh (4:03.12) in the consolation final of the event.
The Patriots took two of the three spots on the podium in the 100-yard butterfly.
Sophomore
Dylan Peck captured the silver (48.42) and classmate
Devin Truong won the bronze (48.65). Sophomore
Andres Alarcon finished fourth in the event (48.78).
Senior
Michael Pettinichi claimed the bronze in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.42), while junior
Christopher Stankiewicz finished sixth (55.13). Sophomore
Wallace Watkins placed fifth in the consolation final of the event (56.44).
Junior
Logan Eubanks swam to a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a new program record time (47.73), with classmate
Ryan Donnelly touching the wall fifth (47.92). Â
On the boards, Mason junior
Gerald Hodges, Jr. took the silver in the three-meter dive with a score of 350.10.Â
Freshman
Colin Graves was seventh (269.85) and junior Joseph Amato placed eighth (246.30).
Sophomore
Drake Moretz just missed a spot on the podium in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fourth (1:38.55).
George Washington has the lead on the men's side after two days of competition with 529 points, followed by George Mason (444), St. Bonaventure (307), La Salle (280), Davidson (266), Massachusetts (252), Saint Louis (246) and Fordham (148).
On the women's side, freshman
Laura Hodge swam to a first-place finish in the consolation final of the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.67).
Senior
Marla Albanese placed eighth in the consolation final of the 100-yard butterfly (56.23).
Senior
Theresa Cotter just missed a spot on the podium with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.47).
Sophomore
Shannon Glesing placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.32).

The group of Cotter, Glesing, Albanese and Hodge finished seventh in the 400-yard medley relay (3:46.75).

Duquesne has the lead on the women's side with 396 points, followed by George Washington (379), Fordham (360.5), Richmond (333), Massachusetts (224.5), Davidson (166.5), George Mason (159), La Salle (149.5), St. Bonaventure (134), Saint Louis (115) and Rhode Island (60.5).

The Atlantic 10 Championships conclude on Saturday with the preliminary events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m. at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
