GENEVA, Ohio – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the second day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Mason men's team moved into second place with 257 points, while the women's team is in sixth place with 98 points.
On the women's side, freshman
Megan Cummins placed fifth in the consolation final of the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.64).
In the consolation final of the 50-yard freestyle, Mason senior
Marla Albanese placed fifth (23.72), while sophomore
Shannon Glesing finished eighth (23.82).
The team of senior
Brittany Murphy, freshman
Chloe Fite, Albanese and Glesing placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.77).
In the one-meter springboard, sophomore
Marina Toone placed sixth with a finals score of 257.60.

Duquesne has the lead on the women's side with 229 points, followed by George Washington (206), Richmond (198), Fordham (193.5), Massachusetts (143), George Mason (98), Davidson (96), St. Bonaventure (95), La Salle (92.5), Saint Louis (63) and Rhode Island (34).

On the men's side, the Patriots claimed five medals in the second day of competition.
Mason took two of the three spots on the podium in the 200-yard IM. Sophomore
Dylan Peck won the gold with a new school record and NCAA B qualifying time (1:46.61) and junior
Ryan Donnelly also set a new program record and took the bronze (1:47.94).
In the consolation final of the 200-yard IM, senior Nick Burton placed fourth (1:49.76) and sophomore
Drake Moretz was fifth (1:50.14).
Mason junior
Attila Kiss made the podium with a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:26.08), while classmate
Logan Eubanks placed eighth in the event (4:33.06).
In the 50-yard freestyle, Mason freshman
Jacob Miller touched the wall second to take the silver (20.29), while classmate
Will Rastatter just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in the event (20.46). In the consolation final, junior
Christopher Stankiewicz finished sixth (21.00).
The combination of Stankiewicz, Ashton, Miller and Rastatter set a new school record on the way to a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:20.21).
George Washington has the lead on the men's side after two days of competition with 283 points, followed by George Mason (257), La Salle (177), St. Bonaventure (143), Massachusetts (140), Davidson (125), Saint Louis (119) and Fordham (84).
The Atlantic 10 Championships continue on Friday with the preliminary events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m. at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
