FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in action on Wednesday, competing in the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 20-23 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The A-10 Championships begin on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 23.Â
Each day of the four-day competition will include a morning preliminary session and an evening final session, with the top 16 performers competing in the finals.
The Mason men's team finished second at the 2018 A-10 Swimming and Diving Championships with 541 points, while the women's team placed seventh with 258 points.

Peter Ward, who is in his 20th year at Mason, was named A-10 Co-Men's Swimming Coach of the Year after last year's conference championships.
On the men's side, Mason finished in second place with 541 points at last year's Atlantic 10 Championships. George Washington won the A-10 Championship title for the second straight year with 689 points, followed by George Mason (541), La Salle (431), Massachusetts (411), Saint Louis (408), Davidson (350.5), St. Bonaventure (343.5) and Fordham (331).
In last year's competition,
Michael Pettinichi claimed two individual titles. He won the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day with a team record and NCAA B qualifying time of 1:58.03, while also taking the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke on day three (54.76).
Christopher Stankiewicz swam to a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (54.76) and just missed a spot on the podium with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.15).
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Matthew Lynch won the event (1:47.69) with
Andres Alarcon finishing one-tenth of a second back to finish second with a NCAA B qualifying time (1:47.70). Alarcon also placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (48.52).
In last year's 200-yard backstroke event,
Ryan Donnelly won the bronze with a third-place finish (1:45.64), while
Logan Eubanks placed eighth (1:49.30).
Dylan Peck set a Mason freshman record when he won the consolation final of the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:49.71. In the 400-yard IM,
Nicholas Burton was seventh (3:59.87).
Attila Kiss swam to a fourth-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:47.36) and was eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.56).
In the one-meter springboard,
Gerald Hodges, Jr. placed fifth with a score of 294.30.
On the women's side, Duquesne won the title with 567 points, followed by Richmond (558), George Washington (447.5), Fordham (432.5), St. Bonaventure (420), Massachusetts (355.5), George Mason (258), Saint Louis (205), La Salle (190), Rhode Island (162) and Davidson (129.5).
Theresa Cotter finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.57), while
Christina McLemore placed seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.11).
In the 1,650-yard freestyle,
Hannah Ikenberry recorded a ninth-place finish (17:10.05).Â
Marla Albanese placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly (56.48).
On the boards,
Marina Toone placed sixth in the women's three-meter event with a NCAA zone cut score of 282.65. She was sixth in the one-meter event with a score of 243.40.
The Atlantic 10 Championships mark the final team competition of the season for Mason.
