MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The George Mason softball team fell in its final game of the Madeira Beach Invitational to Akron, 9-3. The Patriots drop to 3-5 overall as their three-game winning streak came to an end. Overall, the Patriots completed a successful weekend at Madeira Beach, finishing with a tournament record of 3-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Mason carried the momentum from a successful Saturday to the first inning, scoring two runs in the top of the first.
 
	- In the bottom of the first, Akron responded with a run of its own off a sacrifice fly.
 
	- In the top of the third, Mason extended its lead, 3-1, after a solo home run by senior Jess Curbeira.
 
	- Once again, the Zips found a way to respond in the bottom of the inning – this time a two-run single tied up the game three all.
 
	- Mason would leave the bases loaded in the top of the fourth.
 
	- The Zips tacked on another two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to claim the lead, 5-3.
 
	- A four-run sixth inning for Akron would ultimately seal the victory, 9-3.
