FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason cross country student-athlete
Jack Ikenberry has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, the league announced Thursday. The award recognizes both academic and athletic achievements.
The Mechanicsville, Va., native placed fourth at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships (Nov. 2) to earn All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. He also earned All-East honors at the IC4A/ECAC Championships (Nov. 23) for finishing in the top 40 with a sixth-place finish.
The sophomore was Mason's top performer in four of its seven meets this season. He placed 62nd with a time of 31:32.0 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Earlysville, Va. on Nov. 15.
At the historic Paul Short Run on Oct. 5, he notched a career-best time of 24:38.5 in the 8k. He tabbed eighth in the 8k at the Mason Invitational (Sept. 13) and 14th in the 5k at the Spider Alumni Open (Aug. 31).
Off the course, Ikenberry is pursuing a degree in Health, Fitness & Recreation Resources.
