Fairfax, Va. (Dec. 10, 2019)-- George Mason men's golf head coach Scott King has resigned from his position after 14 years with the Patriots, Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Brad Edwards announced Tuesday.

"We appreciate Scott's service and commitment to our student-athletes and the program during his time at Mason," said Edwards. "We wish Scott the best moving forward."

In conference tournament play, Mason finished fourth in the A-10 twice and third in the 2011 CAA Championship, the best finish in King's tenure. Mason had three players receive all-conference accolades under King's direction.

"I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to coach the Mason golf program," said Scott King. "I've had the opportunity to work with an outstanding group of student-athletes who worked hard on the golf course and in the classroom. I want to thank the athletic administration for their understanding and support, especially over the past several years when I have had some health and family issues. I wish nothing but the best and great success for the golf program as it moves forward."

Senior Associate Athletic Director and men's golf sport administrator Ron Shayka will lead the program until a head coach is hired.

Edwards will conduct a national search for a head coach effective immediately.
