LEESBURG, Va. – The George Mason men's cross country team finished fourth at the Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday morning at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The Mason women claimed sixth in team standings with 160 points.
The Mason men earned their highest team finish since 2016 with 124 points to claim fourth. Sophomore Jack Ikenberry and junior Hunter Jutras finished in the top-15 to receive All-Conference honors for the first time in their cross country careers.
Ikenberry led the Patriots with a fourth-place finish and time of 25:17.2. Jutras followed in 13th with a time of 25:37.9 to round out the top 15 Atlantic 10 performers.
Graduate student Grant Anderson placed 28th with a time of 26:11.1 followed by junior Thomas Amabile in 32nd with a time of 26:18.2. Freshmen James Seal and redshirt junior Will Smagh secured the 47th and 48th spots with times of 26:36.1 and 26:36.9, respectively.
On the women's side, sophomore Siobra O'Flaherty tabbed 17th to lead the Patriots with a time of 18.40.8. Following was senior Maggie Morgan in 24th place with a time of 18:56.2. Junior Carina Garcia placed 30th with a time of 19:01.7 followed by junior Kaitlyn Johnson in 37th (19:07.6). Senior Sarah Richart placed 52nd (19:02.1) to round out Mason's top five performers.
Championship season continues at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship on Nov. 15 in Earlysville, Va., hosted by the University of Virginia.
