Mason Men's Team Takes First, Women's Team Second at Potomac Relay Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2019-20 season on Friday at the Potomac Relay Invitational held at American University.

Facing teams from American, Georgetown and Howard, the Mason men's team won four events to claim first place with 100 points.  The Mason women's team won three events and finished second with 90 points.

On the women's side, senior Shannon Glesing, sophomore Chloe Fite and freshmen Emily Lewantowicz and Grace Newton took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.02).

Mason sophomore Laura Hodge along with freshmen Jacquee Clabeaux, Ashton Gasper and Lewantowicz won the 500-yard freestyle relay (4:43.63).

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the combination of sophomore Megan Cummins, Ashton, Gasper and Hodge swam to a second-place finish (7:53.65).

Cummins and Hodge combined to take the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle relay (10:35.27).  Sophomore Hannah Milikich, Ashton and Clabeaux won the 3X100 backstroke relay (2:54.97).

In the 200-yard medley relay, freshman Leah Riley, Clabeaux, Glesing and Lewantowicz placed second (1:47.40), while the team of Ashton, Clabeaux, Gasper and Riley touched the wall second in the 400-yard medley relay (4:07.36).

On the men's side, seniors Logan Eubanks and Christopher Stankiewicz, junior Devin Truong and sophomore Will Rastatter combined to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.18).

Graduate student Jake Ball, senior Ryan Donnelly and juniors Andres Alarcon and Dylan Peck took the top spot in the 400-yard medley relay (3:37.00).  The combination of senior Attila Kiss, junior Drake Moretz, sophomore Nick Ashton and Rastatter won the 500-yard freestyle relay (4:11.18).

The Patriots also won the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Ashton, Moretz, Rastatter and Stankiewicz finishing first (1:25.60).

The Mason men's team finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle relay, 3X100 backstroke relay and 3X100 breaststroke relay.

The Patriots are back in the pool when the face Delaware on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at Rawstrom Natatorium in Newark, Del.
