RICHMOND, Va. – Facing Atlantic 10 opponents for the first time this season, the George Mason men's swimming and diving team leads Davidson, 130-56, while the women's team fell to Davidson, 165.5-95.5, on Friday in the first day of competition at the Richmond Duals.

On the women's side, Mason won five events against the Wildcats.

Sophomore
Sophie McKinley got the Patriots started with a win in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:07.43), with classmate
Megan Cummins, who won the event last year, placing third (18:29.72).

Freshman
Jacquee Clabeaux won two events, taking first in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.78) and 100-yard freestyle (51.65). Sophomore
Ariana Lewis placed third in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.91) and 100-yard freestyle (54.07).

Junior
Shannon Glesing took the top spot on the podium in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.53) and placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.96).

The combination of freshmen
Leah Riley and
Emily Lewantowicz, Clabeaux and Glesing placed second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.66). Riley was second in both the 100-yard butterfly (57.79) and 200-yard butterfly (2:09.71), and third in the 200-yard IM (2:09.47).

The top three finishers in the 200-yard freestyle were separated by just over two seconds, with Mason sophomore
Laura Hodge third in the event (1:56.50).

The Patriots took two of the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke, with sophomore
Hannah Milikich second (58.46) and freshman
Lauren Ashton third (59.87).Â

In the 200-yard backstroke, Ashton placed second (2:06.45), Milikich was third (2:07.72) and senior
Hannah Ikenberry finished fourth (2:08.32).

Ashton Gasper placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.62).

In the final event of the day, Clabeaux, Lewantowicz, Hodge and Ashton won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.20).

On the men's side, the Patriots won eight events and hold the lead over the Wildcats after day one of the two-day dual.

Senior
Attila Kiss won the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:24.55) at the Richmond Duals for the fourth straight year. Freshman
Jackson Knouse was second in the event (16:32.54).

Ryan Donnelly and
Christopher Stankiewicz, along with junior
Dylan Peck and sophomore
Will Rastatter took first in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.22).

Stankiewicz also took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (21.20), with Rastatter right behind for a close second (21.61). Junior
Drake Moretz won the 100-yard freestyle (46.00), with Stankiewicz third in the event (47.57).

Devin Truong touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.08), while classmate
Andres Alarcon, who won the event last year, placed third (1:55.80).

Wallace Watkins third (2:10.48).

Gerald Hodges, Jr. placed second in the one-meter diving event with a score of 245.70, while senior Joseph Amato was third with a score of 216.60.

The Patriots are back in action on Saturday morning, with the men's team continuing their dual meet against Davidson, while the women's team will face Richmond.

Diving will be held at the Robins Center Natatorium and swimming at SwimRVA on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
