Patriots Host American, Army and Old Dominion in Quad Meet Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in action for the final home meet of the season, hosting American, Army and Old Dominion on Saturday at the Jim McKay Natatorium in Fairfax, Va.

With inclement weather in the forecast, the meet has been moved up an hour and is now scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The Mason women's team has an overall record of 6-1, including a mark of 5-1 against Atlantic 10 opponents. 

The Patriots women's team has won five straight duals, with victories over Davidson on Oct. 20 at the Richmond Duals and wins over La Salle, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure and Duquesne at the A-10 Classic on Oct. 27 in Geneva, Ohio.

The Mason men's team has a 5-0 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark against conference opponents. 

Last time out, the Patriots men's team defeated Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure and La Salle at the A-10 Classic on Oct. 27 in Geneva, Ohio.

Mason juniors Ryan Donnelly, Logan Eubanks and Christopher Stankiewicz competed at the 2018 AT&T Winter Nationals Nov. 28 – Dec. 1, 2018 in Greensboro, N.C.

On the men's side, junior Attila Kiss leads the team with nine first-place finishes, while sophomores Andres Alarcon and Drake Moretz, along with Stankiewicz are tied for second on the squad with five first-place finishes.

On the women's side, freshman Megan Cummins leads the team with five first-place finishes, while senior Brittany Murphy and freshman Laura Hodge have each won four events on the year.

SCOUTING AMERICAN

The American men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of dual meets last weekend, falling to Georgetown and George Washington at McCarthy Pool in Washington, D.C.

Eagles senior Scott Callander took the top spot on the podium in the 100-yard butterfly, while placing sixth in the 200-yard butterfly and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle.

SCOUTING ARMY

The Army women's team has an overall record of 2-4, including a mark of 0-3 against Patriot League opponents.

Army fell to Lehigh, 164.5-135.5 on Jan. 11 in Bethlehem, Pa. and dropped a 174-126 decision to Bucknell on Jan. 12 in Lewisburg, Pa.

The Army men's team has an overall record of 4-2, with a 2-1 record against conference opponents.

The Cadets defeated Lehigh, 203.5-96.5 on Jan. 11 and recorded a 203.5-91.5 victory over Bucknell on Jan. 12.

SCOUTING OLD DOMINION

The Old Dominion women's team defeated VMI (240-39) and Howard (216-71), but fell to Campbell (148-144), while the men's team earned victories over VMI (160-128) and Howard (182-93) on Jan. 12 in Norfolk, Va.
