FAIRFAX, Va. – Nothing can damper the passion and fervor of #MasonNation – even one of the rainiest days of the year.
This Friday, the Washington Nationals held their annual Mason Day at Nationals Park. The game lasted only about 20 minutes until the weather pushed the majority of the contest back to Saturday. But close to 1,500 members of the #MasonFamily still braved the elements to celebrate all that's great about our university.
Men's basketball head coach
Dave Paulsen threw out the ceremonial first pitch to highlight the festivities. He was joined at the park by his wife, Kathy, and daughter, Molly.
The Masonettes and members of the cheerleading team greeted fans on the concourse, alongside the Mason Patriot mascot.
In addition, alumni of the Mason LIFE program had the opportunity to attend the game through a program called Out'N'About. The Mason LIFE program is an innovative post-secondary program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who desire a university experience in a supportive academic environment.
The event provided a great way for Mason alumni and supporters to enjoy some fellowship together at the beginning of the 2018-19 academic year.
