FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team returns to Atlantic 10 play, facing George Washington in a three-game series beginning Friday at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. The first pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Colonials are tied for third place in the A-10 with a record of 10-5, while the Patriots are in sixth place in the conference with a record of 9-6.
Last time out, Mason (19-23, 9-6 A-10) built a 9-0 lead after two innings on the way to a 16-9 victory over Towson on Wednesday at Schuerholtz Park in Towson, Md.
The Patriots scored a season-high 16 runs on 16 hits. Every player in the starting lineup for the Patriots reached base at least once and either scored a run or drove in a run.
Mason senior
Trevor Kelly went 2-for-6 with his sixth home run of the season, five RBI and three runs scored. He has hit a homer and driven in five runs in each of the last two games. Graduate student

Brian Marconi allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits over 5.0 innings to earn the win for the Patriots.

Logan Driscoll is third in the Atlantic 10 in average (.363) and hits (61). He ranks 10th in the conference in doubles (12) and is tied for 11th in the A-10 in RBI (32).
Senior
Tyler Nelin is second on the team in average (.366) and third in hits (41). Kelly is batting .316 and ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 in home runs (6) and RBI (40). He is tied for second in the conference in doubles (15) and tied for 10th in the A-10 in hits (54).
On the mound, junior
Zach Mort (5-2) leads the Atlantic 10 in innings pitched (77.2), is second in strikeouts (86) and tied for third in ERA (2.20). Senior

George Washington swept a three-game series from the Patriots last season May 5-7, 2017 at Spuhler Field. The Patriots lead the all-time series against the Colonials 61-42.
SCOUTING REPORT
George Washington has an overall record of 26-18, including a mark of 10-5 against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents. The Colonials are 17-4 at home and 9-13 on the road.
The Colonials won a pair of midweek games, defeating Towson 9-3 on Tuesday at Schuerholtz Park and then earned a 16-5 win over Coppin State on Wednesday at Barcroft Park.
