TOWSON, Md. – Mason senior
Trevor Kelly hit a home run and drove in five runs for the second straight game, leading the Patriots to a 16-9 win over Towson on Wednesday afternoon at Schuerholtz Park in Towson, Md.
Mason (19-23, 9-6 A-10) sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the first inning against Towson (12-33, 5-10 CAA) starter Josh Seils.

Tyler Nelin had two hits in the inning, with a single and a two-run double.
Sophomore
Logan Driscoll reached on a throwing error to start the second inning. Senior
Trevor Kelly then belted his sixth home run of the season, a two-run blast over the left field fence to make the score 9-0. Kelly has hit a home run in each of the last two games.
The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the third against Mason starter
Brian Marconi. After a single and a double to start the inning, Towson scored a run on a passed ball and another on a groundout to cut the Patriots advantage to 9-2.
The Patriots batted around again in the fifth. Mason sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs on six hits to increase the lead to 14-2.
Kelly drove in two runs in the inning with a double, while Driscoll, Sturek and freshman
Daniel Brooks each knocked in a run with a RBI single.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the home half of the sixth with three singles against Mason freshman
James Price. Towson sophomore Noah Cabrera then hit his first career grand slam over the fence in left-center to make the score 14-6.
Mason junior
Alejandro Aponte and Sturek each walked with two outs and scored in the seventh to extend the Patriots advantage to 16-6.
Towson added three runs in the eighth inning, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get.
The Patriots swept the two-game season series from the Tigers.
Marconi (3-1) allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits over 5.0 innings to earn the win. He struck out four and walked one. Price surrendered seven runs, five earned, on six hits over 2.2 innings, while freshman
Austin Cabone pitched 1.1 scoreless innings for the Patriots.
Seils (1-2) took the loss after allowing 12 runs, six earned, on 12 hits over 4.1 innings. The Tigers used five pitchers in the game.
Kelly went 2-for-6 with a home run, five RBI and scored three runs, while Sturek finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.

The Patriots scored a season-high 16 runs on 16 hits in the game. Every player in the starting lineup reached base at least once in the game for Mason. Every player in the starting lineup either scored a run or drove in a run for the Patriots.
The Patriots return to Atlantic 10 play when they begin a three-game series against George Washington on Friday at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
