FAIRFAX, Va. – Mason sophomore
Jared DiCesare turned in a dominate performance, pitching a complete-game three-hitter on Senior Day as the Patriots blanked Saint Joseph's 2-0 on Sunday at Spuhler Field.
DiCesare allowed just three singles and struck out a season high nine batters. He retired 18 Hawks batters in a row from the third through the ninth inning.
Mason (23-25, 13-8 A-10) took the lead for good in the bottom of the third against Saint Joseph's (19-26, 5-14 A-10) starter Justin Aungst.

Tyler Nelin led off the inning with a single and with one out, sophomore
Logan Driscoll tripled to right-center with Nelin racing all the way around from first to put the Patriots in front 1-0. Senior
Trevor Kelly then drove in Driscoll from third with a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0.
Mason finished the home portion of the schedule with a record of 15-7. The Patriots won all six of their three-game series played at Spuhler Field this season, taking two of three games from Fairfield, Lafayette, Richmond, Massachusetts and Saint Joseph's and swept a three-game set from St. Bonaventure.
Mason went 9-3 at home against Atlantic 10 opponents. The nine wins at Spuhler Field against conference foes are the most for the Patriots since beginning play in the Atlantic 10 in 2014.

DiCesare (5-5) threw a career-high 113 pitches to earn the win. He has pitched a complete game in each of his last two starts. DiCesare has allowed just five runs with 25 strikeouts and two walks over 35.0 innings of work in his last four starts.
Aungst (2-9) allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven without a walk and took the loss for the Hawks.
Driscoll went 1-for-4 with his second triple of the season and drove in a run, Nelin was 1-for-4 with a run scored and Kelly recorded his 42nd RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly.
The Patriots wrap up the regular season with a three game series against La Salle beginning Thursday, May 17 at DeVincent Field in Philadelphia, Pa. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
