DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason baseball team dropped the final game of its series against Davidson 9-5 on Sunday at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.
Davidson (20-11, 6-3 A-10) took the lead in the first inning against Mason (14-16, 6-3 A-10) starter
Brian Marconi.
With runners on second and third, Wildcats sophomore Brett Centracchio drove in two runs with a single through the right side to put Davidson in front 2-0.
In the second inning, Wildcats sophomore Greg Lowe was hit by a pitch and with two outs, Centracchio doubled to left field to drive in Lowe to make the score 3-0.
The Patriots responded in the top of the third against Davidson starter Josh Hudson.

Frank Sturek followed with a walk. After a sacrifice bunt by senior

Logan Driscoll drove in a run with a ground out and senior
Trevor Kelly knocked in a run with a single to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Wildcats added a run in the third inning and another in the fourth inning to build a 5-2 advantage.
Mason sent eight batters to the plate in the eighth inning and scored three runs to tie the score 5-5.

Tyler Nelin started the inning with back-to-back singles. With one out, junior
Ryan Tassone walked to load the bases. Freshman
Daniel Brooks then drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single through the left side to make it a one-run game at 5-4.
With two outs, Sturek singled to left field with Tassone crossing the plate to tie the score 5-5.
The Wildcats answered in the home half of the eighth. Davidson sent 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs to retake the lead.

Garett Driscoll. Davidson sophomore Zach Nussbaum walked and senior Andrew Born was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Senior Alec Acosta put down a sacrifice bunt that turned into a two-base throwing error that allowed Nussbaum to score to put the Wildcats ahead 6-5.
After another Mason pitching change, the Wildcats scored three more runs in the inning on a single and a double for the 9-5 final.
Marconi allowed five runs on nine hits over 4.0 innings in a no-decision. Senior Tim Turner pitched two scoreless innings.
Garett Driscoll (0-2) surrendered three runs, two earned, on three hits in 1.0 innings and took the loss. Senior
Ryan Ricci gave up one run on one hit in one inning of work.
Kelly went- 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored, Nelin was 3-for-5 and scored a run and Brooks finished 1-for-1 with two RBI.
The Patriots are back in action when they host James Madison on Wednesday with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, Va.
