DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason baseball team returns to Atlantic 10 play, facing Davidson in a three-game series beginning Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.
Last time out, Mason (13-14, 5-1 A-10) built an 8-3 lead but fell at Longwood 13-10 on Wednesday at Buddy Bolding Stadium in Farmville, Va.

Alejandro Aponte was 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Every player in the starting lineup either scored a run or drove in a run for the Patriots.
The Patriots have won 13 of their last 19 games overall and are 1-6 on the road. The Patriots defeated Florida International 12-8 on March 12 in Miami, Fla. to record their lone road win of the season.
Mason has a team batting average of .264 through 27 games.
Logan Driscoll leads the A-10 in average (.425) and hits (45). He ranks third in the conference in RBI (28) and fourth in slugging percentage (.585).
On the mound, junior
Zach Mort (3-1) was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.
Mort leads the A-10 in strikeouts (63) and innings pitched (50.1) and ranks second in ERA (1.61).
In his two starts against A-10 opponents, Mort has not allowed a run or an extra-base hit. He's allowed just 11 singles while striking out 22 batters without a walk. Mort scattered five singles and fanned 13 over 9.0 innings in Mason's 4-0 win over St. Bonaventure on March 24. He allowed six singles and struck out eight over 9.0 innings in Mason's 1-0 victory over Richmond on March 31.
The Wildcats are the defending A-10 tournament champions. Davidson advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history and defeated North Carolina twice to win the Chapel Hill Regional before falling to Texas A&M in the College Station Super Regional.
SCOUTING REPORT
Davidson has an overall record of 18-10, including a mark of 4-2 against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents. The Wildcats are 14-6 at home and 4-4 on the road.
The Wildcats built leads of 3-0 and 5-2 at Wake Forest on Tuesday, but the Demon Deacons scored 13 unanswered runs, including eight in the bottom of the seventh, for a 15-5 victory. Wake Forest scored 15 runs on 19 hits in the game.
In their last A-10 series, the Wildcats swept three games at Rhode Island March 30 – April 1 by final scores of 12-2, 6-2 and 6-1.
Davidson is batting .270 as a team. Junior Eric Jones is hitting .327 (34-for-104) and leads the team in hits (34), doubles (6), home runs (6) and RBI (39). Freshman Alex Mardiny is batting .307 (31-for-101) and is second on the team in hits (31) and doubles (5). Sophomore Ward Coleman has a .274 average (29-for-106) and is second on the squad in RBI (23).
Davidson ranks 17th in the nation with 33 home runs. The Wildcats have had 11 players hit at least one round-tripper this season, while seven players have hit at least four home runs. The Wildcats have belted at least one homer in 15 of their 28 games.
On the mound, junior Allen Barry (5-1) is tied for the most wins in the Atlantic 10. He ranks fourth in the conference in strikeouts (46) and is eighth in ERA (2.23).
STRIKE ZONE
Mason is playing at Davidson for the first time in program history. The Patriots are 2-2 in the all-time series against the Wildcats.
The Patriots won two of three games against the Wildcats May 1-3, 2015 in the lone series played between the two teams. Mason won the first game 3-2, dropped the middle game 12-8 and recorded an 8-7 victory in the final game of the series.
The Wildcats defeated the Patriots 6-3 in the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship on May 25, 2017 at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Mo.
