HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The George Mason University women's tennis dropped a Wednesday morning match to Bucknell at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center.
The match was Mason's first of its PTR Springfest schedule. The Patriots will also play Slippery Rock Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
In the morning match, the Patriots fell to the Bison by the score of 6-1.
"It was very windy and cold, and Bucknell handled the weather better than we did today," head coach Steve Curtis said.

Brianna Gibbs played to a 6-6 tie, but Bucknell won the tiebreaker 7-4 to win the match.
In singles, freshman Yang picked up a nice win at No. 3 singles. She won the first set over Mishi Papich, before falling in the second frame, 6-4. Then, in the third set (pro set format), Yang fell in a close 10-8 decision.
Gibbs also nearly pulled off the victory at No. 2. After dropping the first set (6-4), Gibbs battled back to win the second frame, 6-4. Then, in the third pro set, Gibbs fought to the end but ultimately fell, 13-11.
