FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team begins the 2019 portion of the season with six wrestlers competing at the Southern Scuffle, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Jan. 1-2 at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Kolby Ho (157) are scheduled to compete for the Patriots.
Voss is seeded fifth, Ho sixth and DiBlasi eighth entering the tournament.
The event, in its 15th year, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. each day and will feature wrestlers from 25 teams.
There are eight USA Today/NWCA top-25 teams competing, including No. 1 Penn State, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 7 N.C. State, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 19 Lock Haven, No. 21 Lehigh and No. 23 Iowa State.
Other teams competing include Air Force, Appalachian State, Binghamton, Cal State Bakersfield, The Citadel, Columbia, Drexel, Duke, Edinboro, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, Ohio, Navy, Northern Colorado, Rider and Stanford.
There are four NCAA Champions and 50 wrestlers currently ranked in the top-20, including Voss, slated to compete. Voss is ranked No. 14 by Flowrestling and No. 16 by both Trackwrestling and InterMat.
Last year at the Southern Scuffle, Anthony recorded a pair of wins at 149 pounds. He earned a 3-2 decision over Bo Pipher (Penn State) in the consolation round of 32 and then registered a 16-6 major decision over Zach Shareef (Chattanooga) in the round of 16.
Voss won three matches at the Southern Scuffle last year. He picked up a 7-5 decision in sudden victory over Quinn Miller (Virginia) in the consolation round of 16, then notched a 3-2 decision against Carter Isley (Northern Iowa) and a 12-1 major decision over Christian Colucci (Lehigh) in the consolation round of 8.
Following the Southern Scuffle, Mason (4-2, 1-1 EWL) is back in action on Thursday, Jan. 10, hosting Cleveland State at 5:30 p.m. and Columbia at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax.

The Southern Scuffle was first held in 2003, with Appalachian State, Duke, Navy, North Carolina and The Citadel the only teams that have participated every year.
Only five different teams have won the Southern Scuffle in the 15-year history of the event.
Cornell (2008, 2009, 2010), Minnesota (2004, 2005, 2007), Missouri (2003, 2006), Oklahoma State (2017) and Penn State (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018) are the only teams to have claimed Southern Scuffle titles.
