FAIRFAX, Va. –
The George Mason University women's tennis team has released its 2019 spring schedule, which includes eight home matches and a road contest at ACC power Virginia.
"We put together very challenging schedules for both teams for this spring," head coach Steve Curtis said. "On the women's side we will have several NCAA Tournament participants as well as the top teams in the A-10. My goal is to push this talented but young team early in the season so we are as prepared as possible for the A-10 Tournament in April. The league is very strong but I think this is the strongest Mason women's team to every hit the courts."
The Patriots open the spring slate with a home contest at the Burke Tennis & Racquet Club vs. Mary Washington on February 9 (6:30 p.m.).
After February 15 contests against Christopher Newport and Washington & Lee at James River Country Club, the Patriots face off with 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifier Virginia on Feb. 16 in Charlottesville. Mason wraps up its road trip with a Feb. 24 match at Navy.
The Patriots will play four TBD matches during their spring break trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C. from March 9-16.
Mason opens its Atlantic 10 schedule on St. Patrick's Day at Davidson (11 a.m.). After the Patriots' Fairfax home opener vs. Delaware State on March 23, Mason hits the road for tilts against Mt. St. Mary's and Delaware in Emmitsburg, Md., on March 27.
The Green & Gold return home to host Loyola (Md.) (March 27) and Coppin State (March 30), then continue their five-match homestand with UNC Wilmington (April 4) and Monmouth (April 7).
Mason hosts 2018 NCAA Tournament team VCU on April 10, before hitting the road for A-10 matches vs. La Salle (April 12), Duquesne (April 13) and Saint Joseph's (April 14) in Philadelphia.
The Patriots take on George Washington in the Revolutionary Rivalry on April 19 in the District, before hosting Maryland Eastern Shore on Senior Day in Fairfax on April 20.
The USTA National Campus will again host the Atlantic 10 Championship this season. The event will be held April 24-27 in Orlando, Fla.
