Matthew Voss has been named EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4, the league announced on Monday.
Voss, from Edgewood, Wash., began the weekend with a 20-3 technical fall over Trey Momon of VMI in the final bout of the match on Friday, lifting the Patriots to a 20-17 victory over the Keydets.
Voss, a 2018 NCAA qualifier, then recorded four wins at the Hokie Open to win the Open bracket at heavyweight. He earned a 2-1 decision over Laith Alsous (Campbell) and then defeated Nick Weldon (Newberry) by fall.
The senior captain finished the tournament with back-to-back 3-2 decisions. He defeated John Borst (Virginia Tech) in the semifinals and 14th-ranked Cory Daniel (North Carolina) in the final.
Voss, who is 5-0 on the season, entered the week ranked #11 by TheOpenMat, #12 by FloWrestling and Intermat and #18 by WIN Magazine.
