Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason swimming and diving teams completed the second day of the annual Patriot Invitational, with the men's team in third place and the women's team in fifth place after day two of the three-day event held at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
On the women's side, Drexel leads with 552 points, UNC-Wilmington is second with 532 points and Florida Atlantic is third with 453 points. Seton Hall is fourth (284.5), followed by Mason (276), Richmond (247), UMBC (216), American (214.5) and Shippensburg (9).
The combination of seniors
Theresa Cotter and
Marla Albanese, sophomore
Shannon Glesing and freshman
Chloe Fite placed seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.63).
Albanese placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (56.66), while senior
Brittany Murphy finished 15th in the event (57.52).Â
Albanese also won the B Final of the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.67), with junior
Melissa Carroll placing 12th (1:55.75).
Freshman
Sophie McKinley took the top spot in the B Final of the 400-yard IM (4:28.82).
Sophomore
Marina Toone was fifth in the one-meter dive with a score of 236.55.
The Mason men's team is in third place with 440 points. UNC-Wilmington remained in first place with 607 points and Drexel is third with 458 points, followed by Seton Hall (392), Florida Atlantic (387), UMBC (338), American (89) and Shippensburg (33).

Logan Eubanks and
Christopher Stankiewicz, sophomore
Dylan Peck and freshman
Jacob Miller finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.39). UNC-Wilmington won the event and set a new pool record (1:29.30).
Eubanks swam to an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (53.07).
Mason finished two-three in the 400-yard IM, with junior
Ryan Donnelly taking second (4:02.52) and classmate
Attila Kiss less than a second back in third (4:03.60).
Freshman
Nick Ashton won the B Final of the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.93), with Eubanks less than a second back for 10th place in the event (1:42.01).
Sophomore
Drake Moretz finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly (50.78) and classmate
Andres Alarcon placed 20th (51.42).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Stankiewicz placed 10th (57.11), sophomore
Joshua Fletcher was 11th (57.58) and sophomore
Wallace Watkins finished 12th (57.63.).
The combination of Donnelly, Moretz, Kiss and Ashton won the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:46.08).
In the deep end of the pool, Mason freshman
Colin Graves took third in the three-meter dive with a score of 281.40. Junior
Joe Amato was fifth in the event with a score of 234.90.
The final day of competition is Saturday, with the prelims scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals slated for 6 p.m. at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
