BALTIMORE – Buoyed by another unblemished weekend by senior star Sydney Green, the George Mason University women's tennis team won three out of four dual matches at the Bear 4-1 Invite on the campus of Morgan State University.

The Patriots claimed match victories over Bucknell (4-1) and Loyola (4-1) on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the Green & Gold dropped a close 3-2 contest to Georgetown, before wrapping up the weekend with a strong 4-1 road win over host Morgan State.

The win over Morgan State marked the Patriots' first-ever dual victory over a team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament the previous season.

"I was very pleased with our on-court performances," head coach Steve Curtis said. "We won 14 of our 20 individual matches. We still need to work on maintaining focus and our teamwork."

Green led the way for the Patriots in Baltimore, winning both of her singles matches and pairing up with sophomore Brianna Gibbs to claim a doubles win.

She is now a perfect 6-0 in singles and 4-1 with Gibbs in doubles this fall.

In addition, freshman Hannah Harrod and sophomore Christine McCarthy won both of their singles matches over the weekend. The Patriots went a perfect 5-0 in doubles, with five different tandems picking up a point for the Green & Gold.

During Saturday's opener, Green took her No. 1 singles match easily over Bucknell's Rachel Carroll, 6-0, 6-1. Harrod defeated Danielle Gannon at No. 3, 6-0, 6-3, while sophomore Hannah Yang and junior Rachel Lee teamed up to earn a doubles point in a marathon victory over Misha Papich and Jull Auteri (6-4, 4-6, 10-3).

In Saturday's nightcap against the Greyhounds, freshman Marium Raza picked up a win at No. 2 singles, while McCarthy upended Loyola's Santoriello, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5. Green and Gibbs took a straight sets doubles win, 6-1, 7-5.

McCarthy claimed a No. 4 singles win in the Sunday match vs. Georgetown (7-5, 6-0), while Harrod and fellow freshman Jackie Nannery defeated the Hoya tandem of Nakagawa/Lynham (6-4, 6-4).

Against Morgan State Sunday, Green again won at the top spot, defeating Asamara Rose, 6-4, 6-3. Harrod upended Oriane Yehouenou at No. 3 (6-1, 6-1) and Nannery beat Alexus Gill at No. 49 (6-3, 6-0). Sophomore Hannah Cianciola and Lee defeated Morgan State's doubles team in three sets (7-6, 5-7, 10-4).

The Patriots wrap up their 2018 fall season at the ITA Regionals Oct. 11-15 in Lynchburg, Va.
