FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams will face Atlantic 10 opponents for the second straight week, competing in the A-10 Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Mason men's team will compete against La Salle, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis, while the women's team will take on Duquesne, La Salle, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis.
The Patriot's men's team has won its first two dual meets of the season. Mason defeated Delaware 188-110 on Oct. 13 and earned a 236-168 victory over Davidson at the Richmond Duals on Oct. 19-20.
The Mason women's team has posted two wins in the first three dual meets of the season. The Patriots swam past Delaware 153-147 at the Jim McKay Natatorium and defeated Davidson 183.5-103.5 at the Richmond Duals.
Last season, the Mason men's team finished the two-day A-10 Classic with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating La Salle (194-178), Saint Louis (245-125) and St. Bonaventure (276-91).
Attila Kiss took the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle, while
Christopher Stankiewicz won both the 100-yard breaststroke and in the 100-yard IM.
Gerald Hodges, Jr. took second in both the one-meter and three-meter dive.
On the women's side at last year's A-10 Classic, Mason defeated La Salle (263-101), but fell to Duquesne, Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure.
Hannah Ikenberry placed second in both the 500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle.
Marina Toone was second in the three-meter springboard and placed fourth in the one-meter event.
The Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute Feb. 20-23, 2018.
