FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's tennis freshman Hannah Yang has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
 
In her first ever dual match, Yang posted a combined 2-0 record in singles and doubles to help the Patriots open the spring slate with a 5-2 victory over Mt. St. Mary's.
 
Yang partnered with fellow freshman Brianna Gibbs for an easy 6-2 win in doubles. Then, at the No. 3 singles position, Yang made quick work of her opponent, winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). The victory also served as the clinching fourth point for the Patriots in the match.
 
When including her fall performances, Yang is now 7-2 in singles and 3-1 in doubles in 2017-18 when playing alongside Gibbs.
 
Yang and the Patriots are back in action on Feb. 8 when they host Mary Washington at International Country Club in Fairfax.
