DAY ONE RESULTS
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The George Mason men's swimming and diving team leads the Virginia Military Institute 140-43, while the Mason women's team leads VMI 148-26 and trails Liberty 145-40 after day one of the Liberty Duals in Lynchburg, Va.
The Mason men's team won nine events, including eight individual events and one relay.
The combination of sophomores
Logan Eubanks and
Christopher Stankiewicz along with freshmen
Dylan Peck and
Bradley Downs set the tone for the evening with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.35). Eubanks also won the 100-yard backstroke (50.96).
The Patriots claimed the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior
Steven Craig won the event (4:38.58), sophomore
Attila Kiss placed second (4:38.93) and freshman
Drake Moretz was third (4:40.15).
Sophomore
Ryan Donnelly took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.71), while sophomore Kimani Maina finished second (1:46.53).
Mason took the top three spots in the 200-yard IM. Senior
Matthew Lynch touched the wall first (1:53.65), freshman
Devin Truong placed second (1:54.66) and Stankiewicz placed third (1:56.31).
Freshman
Wallace Watkins led a sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.01), Craig was second (59.16) and Peck finished third (59.31).
Freshman
Andres Alarcon claimed the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.67) with Truong finishing in second place (1:59.86).
Sophomore
Gerald Hodges, Jr. scored 334.43 to win the three-meter springboard diving event.
On the women's side, freshman
Marina Toone won the three-meter springboard event with a score of 297.98, while classmate
Alyx Bridis was second with a score of 217.20.
The combination of seniors
Amy Tansill and
Dorothy Reilly along with juniors
Theresa Cotter and
Marla Albanese placed third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.90).Â

Reilly was third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.99) and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.69).
The Patriots are back in action for the final day of competition on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Natatorium in Lynchburg, Va.
