FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team dropped a 48-0 decision to Clarion in Eastern Wrestling League action on Sunday at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va.
Mason (3-8, 0-4 EWL) wrapped up its home portion of the EWL schedule, while Clarion (6-3, 1-0 EWL) competed against a conference opponent for the first time this season.
The Golden Eagles won all 10 bouts in the match including three falls, one technical fall, one major decision and two by forfeit.
"I felt like our effort was better today than it was yesterday and that's what we're going to take away from the dual meet," Mason head coach
Frank Beasley said. "We had a couple of curve balls thrown at us before the match with some illness and injury, but I did see more energy and fight out of the team today."
The Patriots are back in action for a pair of EWL road duals next Saturday, competing in two matches in two states. Mason faces Cleveland State at 12 p.m. in Cleveland, Ohio before traveling to take on Edinboro at 7 p.m. in Edinboro, Pa.
