FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team suffered a 40-6 setback to No. 18 Lock Haven in Eastern Wrestling League action on Saturday at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va.
Mason (3-7, 0-3 EWL) redshirt junior Matthew Voss
recorded the lone victory of the match for the Patriots, winning by forfeit at 285 pounds. He now has 17 wins on the season.
Lock Haven (8-1, 2-0 EWL) won the first nine bouts of the match including four technical falls, two major decisions and one fall.
"We didn't do a good job controlling our effort and attitude today," Mason head coach Frank Beasley
said. "We felt that after the intermission the guys went out and fought harder. Hopefully it motivates the guys to do more."
The Patriots are back in action on alumni weekend when they host Clarion on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Recreation Athletic Complex.
"We're excited to have a lot of people back," Beasley said. "We had a pretty good crowd today and I think we'll have a good crowd tomorrow as well. It's always good to have alumni back. It's vital to the program to have them connected."
